How Long Is Recovery After Rhinoplasty in Riyadh?

The recovery period following rhinoplasty in Riyadh is a gradual process that varies from person to person, but a general timeline can be expected. Immediately after surgery, patients will experience swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes, which is typically most prominent in the first 24-48 hours. A splint and/or packing may be in place to support the new nasal shape and minimize bleeding.

During the first week, significant swelling and bruising will begin to subside. The splint is usually removed around day 7-10. While you'll start to see the initial changes to your nose, it will still appear swollen. Most patients can return to light, non-strenuous activities and work (if it's not physically demanding) within 1-2 weeks. However, it's crucial to avoid any activity that could bump or impact the nose.

Over the next few weeks to months (2-12 weeks), the majority of the swelling will continue to resolve. By the one-month mark, many people feel comfortable with their appearance in public, though some subtle swelling may persist. Cardiovascular activities like walking can usually be reintroduced around 3-4 weeks post-surgery, gradually increasing intensity as tolerated. Strenuous exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks to prevent complications and prolonged swelling. Blowing your nose should also be avoided for several weeks.

The final refinement of the nose can take up to a year or even longer. Subtle swelling, particularly in the tip of the nose, can linger for many months. The nose's shape will continue to evolve during this time as the tissues settle. Most individuals will see significant improvement within 3-6 months and the final results around the one-year mark.

Several factors can influence the recovery timeline, including the extent and type of rhinoplasty performed (primary vs. revision, open vs. closed technique), individual healing abilities, skin thickness, and adherence to post-operative care instructions
